In a heartwarming celebration of cultural diversity and mutual respect for various faiths, the Parliament of World’s Religions is set to return to Chicago this August.
The highly anticipated 2023 edition of the Parliament of the World’s Religions is scheduled to take place from August 14 to 18. Drawing thousands of attendees from across the globe, the event promises to be a magnificent showcase of interfaith unity and understanding. Kicking off with the “Parade of Faiths,” an interfaith parade open to the public, on August 13, the festivities will commence at the Museum Campus, The Welcome Garden, located at 1521 S. Linn White Drive, Chicago.
The Parade of Faiths will feature a joyous blend of festivities, music, and dance, embodying the cultural richness of Chicago’s diverse community. Those interested in participating in the parade are encouraged to submit their applications by August 1.
A particularly noteworthy highlight of the event will be the daily langar, a communal meal, graciously offered by the Sikh community of Illinois, under the leadership of the Sikh Religious Society of Palatine. This langar will serve over 6,000 delegates attending the Parliament of the World’s Religions and will be both vegetarian and free of charge. Rajinder Singh Mago, trustee emeritus of the Council for a Parliament of the World’s Religions and community outreach and media coordinator for the Sikh Religious Society of Palatine, expressed the community’s deep commitment to hospitality and inclusivity.
The event will witness the convergence of participants representing more than 200 religious, Indigenous, and secular beliefs, fostering an environment of harmony and understanding. With over 80 nations expected to be represented, the Parliament of the World’s Religions will serve as a global platform for dialogue and mutual respect.
To accommodate this grand occasion, the McCormick Place Lakeside Center, located at 2301 S. Jean Baptiste Point DuSable Lake Shore Drive, has been selected as the venue, providing a suitable space for this extraordinary gathering of diverse cultures and faiths.
As Chicago prepares to host this remarkable event, the city welcomes people from all walks of life to join in this inspiring celebration of cultural harmony and faith respect, embodying the spirit of unity and cooperation for a brighter and more compassionate world.
